Facebook's parent company announced Wednesday that it will increase the number of government licenses it has approved from three to 27.

Previously, sellers who wanted to promote cryptocurrency had to apply, including any licenses obtained, regardless of whether they were in the public sector.

The company will now make a decision based on a list of relevant regulatory bodies.

“These changes will make our policies fairer, clearer, and more inclusive of sellers, including small businesses. Use our tools and grow your business,” Facebook said in a blog post.

Extension of cryptocurrency issuance rights

*Starting today, we are updating our eligibility to serve cryptocurrency-related ads on our platform. Increase the number of approved licenses from three to 27. A list of applicable licenses is also available on our policies page.

Previously, sellers could provide information such as licenses they applied for and received, whether they are publicly traded, and other public information about their business. But over the years, the cryptocurrency landscape has grown and stabilized, and government regulations have increased. This helped establish clear responsibilities and expectations in the business. In the future, we will use different codes to check eligibility, and instead, we need one of these 27 certificates.

These changes will make our policies fairer and more transparent and allow more sellers, including small businesses, to use our tools to grow their businesses.

Previously approved vendors will not be affected by the changes. The list of products and services that require approval remains the same. We still require prior written consent based on the following criteria:

Platforms, applications, or products are known as cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms. This includes, for example, currency trading, leveraged trading, futures trading, or other trading instruments related to cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency loans and lending platforms, applications, or products.

Cryptocurrency wallets allow you to buy, sell, trade, and invest cryptocurrency tokens.

Cryptocurrency mining hardware and software.

Cryptocurrency is a growing field. As the business grows, we may refine these policies over time. This includes adding the relevant licenses to the list and we will review them.

We will enforce our policies and remove misleading and harmful ads that violate our policies. Users should report content that violates our ad policies by clicking the Report Ads button in the upper right corner of any ad. This helps us improve our implementation and better understand the opinions of the people who use our platform every day.
